A Full Season of Activities... and More to Come!

This has been a rather full season of activities related to my different areas of involvement. My Senior Fellow involvement at the Sagamore Institute continues to be rich. Please be sure to follow the Institute’s website as the staff continues to grow, and the content is rather engaging.

The National Conversations events are looking promising, with the next one taking place in London, June 27, and will tackle the important topic of “The Creation of Wealth and Human Flourishing.” This will be filmed, but unlike the first two it will be released in the States at a later time. Ron Blue, Larry Reed, Byron Johnson, Jay Hein, Tom Lehman, and Scott Jaschik are a few of the prominent names that will be involved.

My fellowship at Baylor’s ISR continues to keep me engaged with leading scholars, and with every month numerous requests for more events and discussions. If you have not been on the ISR’s website, be sure to check it out.

Most of my energies since this summer have been poured into the Green Scholars Initiative. We now have over 30 universities involved. We (Scott Carroll and I) have presented at dozens of universities and conferences in the past few months. Also, our exhibit of ancient mss at the Vatican Embassy last month, coupled with the same exhibit at Baylor, has garnered over 90 million viewers via media coverage. We are about to launch the major interactive exhibit (“Passages”) at the OKC Museum of Art. It will run from May16-Oct. 16.

I recently presented at several colleges, including Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary – Charlotte and Liberty University. Both brought me into contact with some amazing programs and people. Next week, after the exhibit’s opening, I’ll be keynoting for Kent State on “Purpose-Guided Education,” a wonderful conference done in conjunction with surrounding institutions.

The CSR staff’s book held a pre-release at the Chicago (Rosemont) Intercontinental. Taking Every Thought Captive will be officially released in June. Todd Ream, David Riggs and I just signed for another book with ACU Press, Beyond Integration. The main part of the text is finished, with only the Introduction and Epilogue to complete. This is a powerful collection of essays from leading scholars, three years in the making and coordinated around an IWU speakers’ series.

I’ll see many of you at the Pepperdine National CSC June 16-18 (giving two invited sessions, one on CSR and the other on GSI), or the Growing Leaders event, National Leadership Forum, June 23-24, and a few of your at the National Conversation event in London, June 26-27. I’ll have a piece in the next Books & Culture, a thought magazine I’ve come to appreciate and many have placed on the level of the New Yorker and leading reviews. I recommend it to you.
